Caring for all our Residents

Labour is committed to supporting families through the cost of living crisis, providing food security and ensuring access to health services.  We will lower the costs of our leisure centres and invest in the services that you need. Labour will keep Council tax increases to an absolute minimum.

Backing Local People

A Labour Council will bring more Council services ‘in-house’; employing more local people. We are committed to securing inward investment for all parts of our district and will always seek to support local businesses; a Labour Council will set up a grant/loan scheme for local businesses and community organisations to take measures to reduce their energy bills.

Enhancing our Environment

Labour will incorporate an environmental impact assessment for every decision we make, reducing the impact on the environment and climate. We will work to insulate more homes and reduce the district’s carbon footprint. We will protect and enhance our green spaces, adopt a tree planting strategy and reduce our use of fossil fuel energy.

Decent Homes

A Labour Council will reduce council home waiting times by building more council homes. We will take measures to reduce empty homes. Work with landlords to raise standards of private rent homes. Labour will demand better energy efficiency of newly built homes. Labour will challenge housing developers to provide community infrastructure required by extra homes in our communities.
